Olivia Gillet
As a second-yearMaster’s student in Multilingual Communication, I chose to undertake my work placement with the NGO to discover the world of non-profit communication, understand its strategies and, finally, take the plunge into practical work.
Over the course of three months, my responsibilities were wide-ranging, with a focus on educational communication. From managing Facebook and Instagram (creating content, stories, photo editing) to writing articles, as well as updating the Ucoopia website and designing posters, I certainly had my hands full!
What struck me most was the freedom to move around and experience events from the inside. Whether it was the AlimenTerre festival, JAGROS Day or the farmers’ tables, I loved capturing these convivial moments on camera. It allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and meet people, but also to discover the power of networking with partners such as CATL, Humundi and Autre Terre.
I’ve come away from this experience having grown as a person, with a new set of technical skills under my belt (WordPress, InDesign, Lightroom, photography). A huge thank you to the teams in Liège, Gembloux and Brussels for their warm welcome, and a special thank you to my supervisor, Kévin, for his trust and for sharing his knowledge. One thing is certain: my professional future lies in the voluntary sector! Once again, a huge thank you to everyone for this incredibly enriching experience.
