Milca Bekama

As a student of Population and Development Sciences, I wanted to learn more about the development cooperation sector in order to guide my career choices.

I was able to carry out various tasks: attending activities organized by ECMS, supporting the communications team in creating posters and other materials, conducting research for workshops (BRULB, Coop Games, etc.), contacting potential partners, and making announcements in the auditorium. What particularly interested me in these various tasks was the process of designing a themed workshop and all the organization that went with it.

Overall, I really liked the team. The camaraderie within the team made me feel comfortable. I also met with NGOs, teachers, and even colleagues from partner countries who answered some questions I had. These encounters helped me feel confident in my choices and also dispelled some of my preconceived notions.

Overall, my expectations were exceeded far beyond what I could have imagined. I wasn’t expecting much, but I learned a lot, and I can see myself working in this sector once I graduate.
