Fadi Chioua

As a Master’s student in public health and already involved in humanitarian work through the NGO Human Smile, I chose to do my internship at ULB-Coopération to learn how a development NGO works and broaden my horizons. My goal was to acquire more analytical and strategic skills, particularly in monitoring and evaluation, fundraising, and report writing.

During my internship, I analyzed documentation to familiarize myself with the sector, contributed to the drafting of the PARISS report, and collected information on the GAVI funder to support a funding application. This last task made a particular impression on me, as it gave me the feeling that I was contributing, even indirectly, to vaccination projects that could save lives.

I discovered a welcoming, supportive, and stimulating work environment, with a team of diverse and complementary profiles. This immersion allowed me to broaden my knowledge and better understand the links between humanitarian aid and development, particularly through the concept of the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus.

This internship met my expectations and reinforced my desire to continue my research and commitment in this meaningful sector. I am grateful to the entire ULB-Coopération team for their warm and inspiring welcome.
