Mangal Festival – second edition
The Mangal Festival is returning to Benin and Togo for its second edition, from 22 to 27 September 2026, in Grand-Popo and Aného, in the heart of the Mono Delta Transboundary Biosphere Reserve.
Organised by the Collectif des Deltas du Golfe du Bénin and coordinated by Ucoopia, the Mangal Festival is a platform for exchange and collective creation focused on the conservation and promotion of the region’s ecosystems.
Open to everyone and completely free of charge, the event will offer five days of meetings, discoveries and discussions centred on issues relating to the conservation of the region’s ecosystems.
The programmeincludes: talks, a scientific symposium, performances and exhibitions, a business fair, a community village, café debates, entertainment, film screenings, side events and ecotourism tours.
A festival comprising five programmes
Over the course of several months, the Mangal Festival offers activities across five complementary programmes:
- Educational programme: workshops, educational activities and initiatives carried out with young people and schools
- Scientific programme: webinars, a student hackathon and a scientific seminar to bring together scientific knowledge and local expertise
- Manager Programme: exchanges and activities amongst protected area managers focusing on conservation and sustainable management practices
- Artistic and cultural programme: performances, installations, visual art, workshops and an immersive artist-in-residence programme
- Regional Attractiveness Programme: promoting local expertise, local initiatives, ecotourism and the region’s assets
