Who are we?
Leading university NGO
Ucoopia, Europe’s first inter-university NGO, is the result of a partnership between ULB-Coopération and Eclosio, with the support of their parent universities, the Free University of Brussels and the University of Liège, joined by the University of Mons. Together, we bring together our years of experience in international cooperation, action research, and civic engagement.
With strong roots in academia and civil society, Ucoopia works in partnership with local organizations and partners in Africa (Benin, Senegal, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo), Latin America (Bolivia, Peru), Asia (Cambodia), and Belgium.
We believe in a world where everyone can live with dignity, fully exercising their fundamental rights, in harmony with natural ecosystems. A world where societies are inclusive, equitable, and supportive, and guarantee the satisfaction of basic needs through quality public services, a fair economy, and democratic and transparent governance.
Mission
Working closely with our partners, local organizations, civil society, and academia, we drive change to:
- 🌱 Preserve and restore natural resources, particularly by supporting agroecological transition, in order to guarantee healthy and sustainable food
- 💼 Promoting the socioeconomic integration of populations made vulnerable by exclusion and inequality
- 🏥 Strengthen health systems to ensure universal, equitable, and high-quality access to healthcare
- 🎓 Encouraging civic and academic engagement in response to societal and climate issues, both in Belgium and internationally
We take action by creating and sharing knowledge, innovating, advocating, forming equitable partnerships, and mobilizing citizens.
