The Feminist Transnational Caravan (FTC)
The Feminist Transnational Caravan is a European project that brings together young people from Belgium, Serbia, Romania, Germany, Finland, and Romania around feminism and its values. The aim is to bring people together, learn, ask questions, and meet associations, activists, and inspiring individuals around feminist issues. During a trip in the summer of 2026, the caravan will travel to several cities to organize street campaigns and film screenings. By meeting activists and participating in workshops, participants will strengthen their commitment and skills.
Feminism has many voices—queer feminism, Black feminism, womanism, ecofeminism, bodily rights—each illuminating an essential dimension of equality.

Objectives
Following the success of The Future We Want, we are hitting the road again with the Feminist Transnational Caravan. This adventure, led by young people, brings together a group that designs and runs an awareness campaign across several cities in Europe. We recruit and train participants, co-create street action tools with them, and travel together by train to defend a model of society that is inclusive, creative, egalitarian, and feminist.
Why is this important?
Our project promotes active citizenship, shared values, and inclusion among young people. In a context where conservative ideas and isolationism are gaining ground, we support young people in developing ways to challenge regressive narratives and defend intersectional feminist values. Feminism has many voices—queer feminism, Black feminism, womanism, ecofeminism, bodily rights—each of which sheds light on an essential dimension of equality. By exploring these perspectives, participants gain knowledge, confidence, and skills to advocate for an inclusive society where everyone’s rights are respected.
From local roots to European action
We begin with a nationally focused program. In Belgium, participants will meet for two weekends in March—first in Liège, then in Brussels—to engage with local actors, understand the history of feminist struggles, and decode the political and cultural context in which we live. Together, we will make our voices heard on March 8, International Women’s Rights Day, to highlight our collective demands.
In early July, young people from five countries will gather in Serbia for a five-day international training course. We will build the group that will make up the caravan and strengthen its capacity to carry out street actions and awareness campaigns. This practical approach allows us to reach out to people and genres.
Street campaign tools—theater, singing, murals, vox pops, etc.—will be created by young people to engage passersby in collective discussions. They are easy to replicate from city to city, making them ideal for a transnational campaign.
Before departure, participants co-create an online campaign and finalize the tools for in-person activities. These resources will be published in a freely accessible toolkit so that these tools can be used by different groups and causes.
The journey: cities, stories, and solidarity
At the end of August, the caravan will set off from Liège, taking several trains to Bonn, Berlin, Krakow, Wrocław, Budapest, and Timișoara, before ending up in Bucharest at the Feminist Film Festival. In each city, we will organize local workshops on specific feminist topics, film screenings, and discussions with communities and activists. Throughout the journey, we will also make a short film collecting messages and testimonials from feminist actors and voices we meet along the way.
Impact: civic skills, shared values, and inclusion
The caravan develops young people’s sense of initiative and civic responsibility. By engaging directly with the public in different countries, participants help to change attitudes towards gender equality and common European values. They gain practical experience in advocacy and community organizing, while deepening their intercultural understanding through the diversity of feminist movements and political contexts they encounter.
Inclusion and diversity are at the heart of our approach. We actively recruit young people from diverse backgrounds—including those with fewer opportunities—and address interconnected issues such as the representation of women in the media, gender-based violence, intersectionality, and the different forms of feminism mentioned above. By training youth activists and young leaders in street action and civic activities, we amplify the project’s reach and sustainability.
After the caravan
Once the trip is over, participants get together to share their experiences at local events in their cities. These gatherings keep the momentum going, strengthen networks, and encourage more young people to join the movement for gender equality, inclusion, and democratic participation.
Join us—as a participant, partner, or supporter—and contribute to a Europe where young people’s voices are heard, valued, and mobilized for change. The Feminist Transnational Caravan is more than a journey: it is a living, learning, and traveling platform for activism, creativity, and solidarity.
