Our methodology
At Ucoopia, each project is fertile ground where research and action come together. It is in this dynamic that useful, innovative, and reality-based knowledge is born.
To achieve this goal, we are implementing three major complementary strategies:
- Supporting sustainable change dynamics. We create spaces for dialogue between researchers and practitioners in the field, for example within scientific committees or observatories. These frameworks for critical and committed exchange enable us to build collective and sustainable solutions that serve the common good.
- Innovating through research and collaboration. Through participatory action research, we combine innovation with local roots. We value experiences, processes, and best practices to develop concrete solutions tailored to the needs of regions and their communities.
- Promoting knowledge exchange and sharing. Within inclusive learning communities, we circulate academic, practical, and traditional knowledge among all actors of change: civil society, institutions, the private sector, etc. These communities make it possible to document best practices, identify challenges, and formulate common solutions. These exchanges are disseminated in the form of seminars, publications, case studies, assessments, etc.
In our projects, we also capitalize on results and lessons learned in the form of methodological guides, reports, or practical fact sheets. These documents, distributed to our partners, donors, and academic institutions, promote the replication of effective approaches.
so many tools to strengthen collective impact.

Our methodological principles
Our strategies are built on solid foundations:
- Connecting the field and the academic world, building on long-term partnerships with our founding universities (ULB, ULiège, UMons) and our partner universities in the countries where we operate, while maintaining a participatory approach.
- Promote an inclusive and gender-sensitive approach, in order to move towards a more equitable sharing of power, resources, and responsibilities.
- Strengthen, through training, the capacities of our partners, communities, and staff to grow together and develop advocacy actions.
